Daylilies are some of the easiest perennials to grow. There are hundreds of different varieties and new ones being introduced
each year. Easy to grow in full sun, they are THE perennial for the novice gardener. They come in a wide range of colors
and sizes. There are repeat bloomers and those that are fragrant. As the name implies, each flower lasts only one day.
Grow daylilies in full sun to light shade in well-drained soil. Mix and match varieties. Fertilize repeat bloomers
regularly and deadhead to lengthen the blooming season. Trim back the foliage after the first hard frost. Dig and
divide them every 3 or so years to prevent crowding.
Good companion plants include roses, irises, lantana and other summer-blooming plants.
Note: Daylilies are loved by deer. If you have deer, make sure to protect your plants.
